Targeted genetics

Targeted genetics is the set of all methods used to induce a site directed change in the genetic program of a living cell or a living organism. "Reverse genetics" is changing the genotype and consequently studying the modified phenotype of a living being. "Targeted genetics" is the rational approach of reverse genetics. It encompasses the methods used to make precise sequence changes in chromosomes at precise locations. Rational genome engineering uses efficient approaches of targeted genetics.
